A Central project for the metropolitan area of Hamburg
KLIMZUG-NORD considers and integrates already existing collaborative structures of the metropolitan area of Hamburg together with the city state of Hamburg, eight administrative districts in Lower Saxony and six in Schleswig-Holstein. The district of Ludwigslust from Mecklenburg-West Pomerania has also joined the project.
The metropolitan area of Hamburg is one of the most dynamic and competitive sites in Germany and Europe. 4.3 million people live and work at this junction reaching out to Scandinavia, West-, East-, and South - Europe. Our region is the economic center of Northern Germany with many factors contributing to the dynamic economy: a sound infrastructure, qualified specialists, companies prepared to innovate, and highly qualified research centers.
Urban city flair contrasting soft, rolling hills; gigantic cruise ships stand out against an idyllic landscape with many small lakes; the sea and the coast along with estates and castles – hardly any region offers such a diversity and high standard of living.
KLIMZUG-NORD is committed in keeping this beautiful region the way it is in the face of climate changes.
